Car

If you are driving from a location in Gegharkunik, head towards the town of Garni first. Take the M1 highway and follow the signs to Garni. After reaching Garni, follow the signs to Geghard Monastery. It is located about 8 km from Garni. The last part of the journey involves a scenic drive through a gorge, which offers spectacular views. Upon arriving, park in the designated areas near the monastery. Please note that there might be a small parking fee.

Public Transportation

To reach Geghard Monastery using public transportation, first, find a marshrutka (minibus) or a bus that goes to Garni. These typically depart from Yerevan but check local schedules as they may vary. Once you arrive in Garni, you can either walk the 8 km to the monastery or catch a taxi. If you choose to walk, the route is scenic but be prepared for a bit of a hike. Make sure to confirm the fare with the taxi driver before starting your journey.

Taxi

For a more direct route without the hassles of public transport, consider hiring a taxi from any location in Gegharkunik. Taxis can be arranged via phone or through local services. The fare should be negotiated beforehand, but expect to pay around 1000-3000 AMD depending on your starting point and the distance. The drive will take about 20-30 minutes to reach Geghard Monastery directly from Garni.
