Officially launched on October 16, 2010, this 5.7 km (3.5 mi) cableway connects the village of Halidzor with the Tatev Monastery, perched high in the Syunik Province. Recognized by the Guinness World Records as the longest non-stop reversible aerial tramway, the journey offers a breathtaking 12-minute ride over the deep Vorotan Gorge, reaching a height of 320 meters.The Tatev Monastery, dating back to the 9th century, was once a prominent medieval university and spiritual center. Reaching the monastery via the Wings of Tatev is an experience in itself, replacing a challenging 40-minute drive along a steep, serpentine road. The cable car project, a part of the Tatev Revival program, not only eases access but also contributes to the restoration of the monastery and the development of local communities.Each cabin accommodates 30 passengers and a steward, with the capacity to carry around 240 passengers per hour. The aerial tramway is supported by powerful pillars, dividing it into four sections, with the longest section stretching 2.7 km and offering panoramic views of the Tatev monastic complex. The construction of Wings of Tatev was undertaken by the Austrian-Swiss Doppelmayr Garaventa Group, demonstrating a commitment to quality and safety.Since its opening, Wings of Tatev has become a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the globe and significantly increasing the number of people visiting the Tatev Monastery.
