From Yerevan, drive northeast towards Ijevan. Once in Ijevan, follow the signs to Achajur village, and then continue towards Makaravank Monastery. The monastery is located about 3 kilometers southwest of Achajur. Be prepared for a partially unpaved road for the last few kilometers. Parking is available near the monastery. A taxi from Ijevan to the monastery will cost approximately 1,500-2,500 AMD.

From Achajur village, follow the road southwest towards Makaravank Monastery. The walk is approximately 3 kilometers and will take you through dense oak forests and glades. Be prepared for an uphill hike. There are no fees for walking to the monastery.
