From Yerevan Central Bus Station, take a bus or marshrutka (minibus) to Ijevan. The journey takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. From Ijevan, hire a local taxi to Makaravank Monastery, which is about 10 kilometers away. Taxi fares typically range from 1,500 to 2,500 AMD.

From Yerevan, drive northeast towards Ijevan. Once in Ijevan, follow the signs to Achajur village, and then continue towards Makaravank Monastery. The monastery is located about 3 kilometers southwest of Achajur. Be prepared for a partially unpaved road for the last few kilometers. Parking is available near the monastery. A taxi from Ijevan to the monastery will cost approximately 1,500-2,500 AMD.

From Achajur village, follow the road southwest towards Makaravank Monastery. The walk is approximately 3 kilometers and will take you through dense oak forests and glades. Be prepared for an uphill hike. There are no fees for walking to the monastery.
