Getting There

  • Car

    From Khor Virap, head northwest on the M1 highway towards the city of Artashat. Continue on the M1 for approximately 18 kilometers until you reach the junction with the M4 highway. Take the M4 highway heading northeast towards the city of Ararat. After about 30 kilometers, merge onto the E99 highway towards the Turkish border. Drive for approximately 12 kilometers, then follow the signs to the town of Doğubayazıt. Once in Doğubayazıt, you will see signs directing you towards Mount Büyükağrı. The total drive is approximately 60 kilometers and may take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic conditions.

  • Public Transportation

    From Khor Virap, take a taxi or a local minibus (marshrutka) to the nearest larger town, Artashat. This will cost around 1,000 AMD. In Artashat, catch a bus or a minibus heading to the city of Ararat, which will cost approximately 2,000 AMD. Once in Ararat, you will need to find a bus or shared taxi to Doğubayazıt. This leg of the journey may cost about 3,000 AMD and take around 1 to 1.5 hours. After arriving in Doğubayazıt, you can either walk to Mount Büyükağrı, which is about 10 kilometers away, or hire a local taxi for about 2,000 AMD to take you directly to the base of the mountain.
