Lake Sevan, often called the "Jewel of Armenia," is a vast and beautiful high-altitude lake that dominates the Armenian landscape. As the largest lake in the Caucasus, it holds immense ecological, cultural, and recreational significance. The lake's shimmering surface, reflecting the surrounding snow-capped peaks, creates a mesmerizing panorama that changes with the weather, from dazzling azure to deep blue.Historically, Lake Sevan was one of the three great "Seas of Armenia". In the past, the lake was larger, but during the Soviet era, its water level was lowered for irrigation and hydroelectric power, causing significant changes to its ecosystem.
