Nestled near the town of Sevan, the Sevan Botanical Garden offers a unique blend of natural beauty and botanical diversity. Founded in 1944, the garden is a satellite of the Yerevan Botanical Garden and operates under the Armenian National Academy of Sciences. Situated at an elevation of 2,000 meters above sea level, the garden experiences a dry, continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. The garden spans 5 hectares and is home to around 650 plant species, including 225 species of trees, sourced from Armenia, North America, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Himalayas. Visitors can explore a variety of flora, including species listed in the Red Book, highlighting the garden's ecological significance. In 2015, a greenhouse was added to the garden. While some areas may appear less maintained, the garden's picturesque setting and tranquil atmosphere make it a popular spot for picnics and leisurely strolls. The garden also serves as the starting point for a trail through the Arjanots mountains, offering panoramic views of Lake Sevan and its historic peninsula.
