Getting There

Car
If you are driving from the center of Shirak, head southeast on the main road towards Gyumri. Continue straight for about 18 kilometers until you reach the junction for the H-1 highway. Merge onto H-1 towards Yerevan. After approximately 12 kilometers, take the exit towards Amberd Road, which is well signposted. Follow Amberd Road for about 8 kilometers, and you will see the fortress on your left. There is a parking area near the entrance, where you can leave your vehicle.

Public Transportation
To reach Amberd Fortress using public transportation, start by taking a marshrutka (minibus) from Shirak to Gyumri, which departs frequently from the central bus station. Once you arrive in Gyumri, you will need to find another marshrutka heading towards Aragatsavan or Amberd. Confirm with the driver that they will drop you off at the Amberd Road junction. From the junction, it’s about a 10-minute walk up Amberd Road to the fortress. Be prepared for a slight uphill walk.
