If you have access to a car, start from the center of Shirak (Gyumri) and head east on the M1 highway. Continue for about 36 kilometers (22 miles), which should take approximately 40 minutes. Watch for signs leading to Geghard Monastery, which is located near the village of Garni. Turn right onto the road that leads to the monastery, and follow the signs for another 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) until you reach the parking area near the entrance.

To reach Geghard Monastery by public transport, begin at the bus station in Gyumri. Board a minibus (marshrutka) heading towards Yerevan and inform the driver that you want to stop at Garni. The fare is approximately 500 AMD (around $1.30). Once you arrive at Garni, you may need to take a taxi to cover the remaining 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) to Geghard Monastery, which should cost around 1000 AMD ($2.60). Alternatively, you can walk, which would take about 30-40 minutes.
