Getting There

Public Transport
From Yerevan, take a minibus to Kapan from the bus station on Sevan Street (behind Yerevan Train Station); the ride costs AMD 3500. From Kapan, take a local bus, taxi, or hitchhike to Kajaran. From the center of Shikahogh village, find a marshrutka (minibus) to Goris and ask to be dropped off at the Lake Gogi turnoff for around AMD 500. From there, it's a 3 km walk to Kaputan Lake.

Car
From Yerevan, drive south towards Kajaran. Once in Kajaran, you can either drive part of the road on a 4WD car and then walk for about 1-1.5 hours to reach the lake, or walk all the way from Kajaran, but in this case, you'll have to leave very early in the morning to have enough time for a 13km walk (one way). Note that the road may be unpaved, so drive cautiously.

Hiking
If you are already in the Shikahogh State Reserve and feel adventurous, you can hike to Kaputan Lake. Start from the visitor center and follow the marked hiking trails. The trek is approximately 8 km and will take you through beautiful forested areas. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks, as the hike can take up to 3 hours depending on your pace.
