Walking
Start your journey from the center of Tsaghkadzor, near the Tsaghkadzor Lift. Head northeast on the main road, known as M4, for approximately 1 kilometer. You will pass by several local shops and cafes. Continue straight until you reach the crossroads at Tsaghkadzor's main square. From there, turn left onto Yerevan Avenue. Follow Yerevan Avenue for about 1.5 kilometers, keeping an eye out for the signs directing you to the monastery. As you approach the outskirts of the town, you will see the signs for Astvatsynkal Monastery. Continue on this path until you reach the entrance of the monastery, which is located at FC7V+5HC, Yernjatap.
Hiking
For a more adventurous route, start your journey from the same central location near the Tsaghkadzor Lift. Instead of following the main road, take the trail that leads to the hills west of the lift station. Follow the marked hiking trails for approximately 2 kilometers uphill. This route offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and forests. As you approach the top, look for the signs leading you to Astvatsynkal Monastery. The hike will end at the monastery, where you can enjoy the serene atmosphere.
Public Transport
While direct public transport to Astvatsynkal Monastery may not be available, you can take a local minibus (marshrutka) from the Tsaghkadzor bus station headed towards Yerevan. Ask the driver to drop you off near the village of Yernjatap, which is closest to the monastery. The ride will take about 15-20 minutes. Once you get off, you will need to walk approximately 1 kilometer towards the monastery. Follow the dirt path that is marked with signs pointing to Astvatsynkal Monastery.
