Car
If you are driving, start from the town of Yerevan and head south on the M-2 highway. After approximately 130 km, take the exit towards Vayots Dzor (signs for Vayots Dzor). Continue straight on the M-2 for about 20 km until you reach the town of Vayk. From Vayk, follow signs towards Goghtanik village. Once you enter Goghtanik, navigate to the coordinates 39.8785, 45.4651, which is where the waterfall is located. There is a small parking area near the trailhead for the waterfall hike.
Public Transportation
To reach Goghtanik waterfall using public transport, first take a marshrutka (minibus) from Yerevan to Vayots Dzor. Marshrutkas leave regularly from the Northern Bus Station. Once you arrive in Vayk, you can either take a taxi to Goghtanik village or ask around for local transport options, as direct public transport to Goghtanik may be limited. Once in Goghtanik village, navigate to the coordinates 39.8785, 45.4651 to find the waterfall. Be prepared for a short hike from the village to the waterfall itself.
Hiking
After reaching Goghtanik village by car or public transport, the Goghtanik waterfall is accessible via a hiking trail. The trailhead is easy to find, as locals can direct you. The hike takes about 20-30 minutes depending on your pace, and it is recommended to wear comfortable hiking shoes. The path can be a bit steep and rocky, so take your time and enjoy the beautiful surroundings as you approach the waterfall.
