Teghenis Mountain, the highest peak of the Teghenyats Mountain Range, stands proudly at 2,851 meters (9,354 feet). Situated on the border of the Aragatsotn and Kotayk provinces, it's approximately 40 kilometers from Yerevan. The mountain offers a diverse landscape, from mountain steppes and meadows to oak and hornbeam forests on its eastern slopes.In winter, Teghenis transforms into a snowy paradise, drawing skiers and snowboarders to its pristine slopes. As the snow melts, excellent hiking trails emerge, inviting visitors to explore lush greenery and vibrant wildlife. The panoramic views from the summit are breathtaking, showcasing Mount Ararat, Mount Aragats, Mount Ara, and the Geghama Mountain Range. The Teghenis Monastery, dating back to the 6th-7th centuries, is located on the mountain's slopes, adding historical significance to the natural beauty.The mountain is also a source for the Hrazdan and Dalar rivers, and the area is rich in mineral water springs. Public Transport
From Yerevan, take a minibus (marshrutka) to Tsaghkadzor. Minibuses depart from Yerevan Azatutyun station approximately three times a day, with a journey time of around 1 hour 15 minutes and a cost of 500-1500 AMD. From Tsaghkadzor, you can take a taxi to the base of Teghenis Mountain, which is a short drive away. Taxi fares are approximately 1,000-2,000 AMD.

Taxis are readily available in Yerevan and can take you directly to Teghenis Mountain or nearby towns such as Tsaghkadzor or Aghveran. A taxi ride from Yerevan to Teghenis Mountain will cost approximately 6,000-8,000 AMD and take around 1 hour, depending on traffic. Be sure the driver uses a meter or negotiate the price beforehand.
Car
If driving from Yerevan, head north on the M4 highway towards Tsaghkadzor. From Tsaghkadzor, follow local roads towards Teghenis Mountain. The drive is approximately 50-60 kilometers and takes about 1 hour. Parking is available near the trailhead, with a small parking fee of around 1,000 AMD.
