Getting There
Walking
From the Yerevan Opera House on Freedom Square, walk north along Tumanyan Street. Continue for about 10 minutes until you reach the base of the Cascade. The Alexander Tamanyan statue marks the entrance.
Public Transport
Take the Yerevan Metro to Marshal Baghramyan station. From there, it's a short walk to the Cascade. Alternatively, take a bus or minibus to the Matenadaran Museum, which is near the Cascade. A single ride on the metro, bus, or minibus costs 100 AMD. A daily travel pass costs 880-900 AMD.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available in Yerevan. Use a ride-hailing app like GG Taxi or Yandex Taxi to book a ride. A short taxi ride from Republic Square to the Cascade will cost approximately 600-700 AMD. The base fare is 600 AMD, and each kilometer is priced at 100 AMD.
Driving
From Aragatsotn, head southeast on the M1 highway towards Yerevan. Continue on the M1 for approximately 30 km until you reach the outskirts of Yerevan. Take the exit toward A1 towards Yerevan City Center. Follow the signs for Kentron and then take a left on Tamanyan Street. The Cascade Complex will be on your right at 10 Tamanyan St, Yerevan 0009. Street parking is available, but it might incur a cost depending on the area.

The Cascade is a massive, terraced step pyramid in Yerevan, Armenia, that blends architecture, sculpture, and urban planning. Conceived in the 1920s by architect Alexander Tamanyan, the concept was to connect the northern and central parts of Yerevan with a green space featuring cascading waterfalls and gardens. The project was revived in the late 1970s by Yerevan's chief architect, Jim Torosyan, and construction began in the 1980s.
The complex consists of five hillside terraces connected by 572 steps. Inside, escalators and elevators make the ascent easier. The terraces feature gardens, fountains, and sculptures by renowned artists like Fernando Botero and Lynn Chadwick. The Cafesjian Museum of Art is integrated within the Cascade, showcasing contemporary art.
The Cascade offers panoramic views of Yerevan and the Ararat Valley. At the top, Victory Park commemorates the Soviet Army's victory in World War II. The Cascade is not just a stairway but a cultural center and open-air museum.
