Situated approximately 10 kilometers (6 miles) north-west of the Brisbane CBD, its name derives from its location in the valley between Mount Coot-tha and Enoggera Hill, both part of the Taylor Range. The Gap provides easy access to the expansive D'Aguilar National Park, with over 28,500 hectares of unspoiled bushland. Visitors can enjoy bushwalking, mountain bike riding, bird watching, and picnicking. The Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre offers a chance to encounter native reptiles, frogs, mammals, and birds.
