  The Cairns Esplanade is easily accessible on foot from most accommodations and attractions in the Cairns CBD. From Cairns Central Shopping Centre, walk east alongShields Street, then turn right onto the Esplanade. The walkway stretches 2.5km along the waterfront. There are no costs associated with walking the Esplanade.

• Public Transport

  Sunbus operates numerous routes throughout Cairns, with several stopping near the Esplanade. From Cairns City Station (Lake Street), take routes 111, 120, 142, 143W, or 150E. Alight at a stop along the Esplanade. A single bus fare within Cairns costs approximately $1 - $2. Check the TransLink website or app for the most up-to-date schedules and fares.

• Taxi/Ride-share

  Taxis and ride-share services like Uber and DiDi are readily available in Cairns. A taxi from Cairns Central Shopping Centre to the Esplanade will cost approximately $9 - $12 and take 3 minutes. Be aware that prices may vary depending on demand and time of day.

• Parking

  Several parking options are available near the Cairns Esplanade. The Southern Esplanade (Lagoon) Car Park, accessed from Pier Point Road, charges $2.20 per hour between 6am and 10pm. The Hospital Esplanade Car Park, located opposite Cairns Hospital, also charges $2.20 per hour. The Skate Park Car Park and McKenzie Street Car Park offer free parking, but time limits may apply. Street parking is also available at $2.20 per hour.
