If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Coorong. Head southeast on Coorong Road toward the intersection with Goolwa Road. Continue on Coorong Road, which will eventually merge into the Goolwa Road. Follow the Goolwa Road until you reach the entrance to Coorong National Park. Once inside the park, follow the signs directing you to 42 Mile Campground. The campground is approximately 16 kilometers from the park entrance, so keep an eye out for signage along the way.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you'll need to take a bus from the nearest city, which is Meningie. Bus services may not be frequent, so check the schedule beforehand. Once in Meningie, you can catch a taxi to the Coorong National Park entrance. From there, you will need to walk or arrange for a ride to 42 Mile Campground, as public transportation does not typically service the campground directly.
Walking/Biking
If you are adventurous and fit, you can cycle or walk from the park entrance to 42 Mile Campground. This route is approximately 16 kilometers and takes you through beautiful natural scenery. Ensure you have appropriate gear, and consider the weather conditions before starting your journey.
Costs
Please note that there is an entry fee for Coorong National Park, which is typically around $10 per vehicle for a day pass. If you're using public transportation, check the bus fare from Meningie to the park and budget accordingly.
