Getting There

Walking
From the center of Port Douglas, head east on Macrossan Street towards the beach for about 500 meters. Once you reach the beach, turn right onto the foreshore path and continue walking along the beach. Follow the path as it curves around the coast for approximately 2 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Captain Cook Highway. At the highway, turn left and walk another 1.5 kilometers. Thala Beach Nature Reserve will be on your left at 5078 Captain Cook Hwy, Oak Beach QLD 4877.

If you have rented a bicycle, start from Port Douglas and head towards the Port Douglas Road. Follow Port Douglas Road until you reach the intersection with Captain Cook Highway. Carefully merge onto Captain Cook Highway heading south for about 4 kilometers. Thala Beach Nature Reserve will be located on your left at 5078 Captain Cook Hwy, Oak Beach QLD 4877. Please ensure to follow all road safety rules while cycling.

From Port Douglas, make your way to the bus stop at the corner of Macrossan Street and Port Douglas Road. Take the local bus service that heads towards Mossman. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Thala Beach Nature Reserve; the journey should take around 15 minutes.
