Discover more about Peacehaven Botanic Park

Peacehaven Botanic Park, located in Highfields, Queensland, is a testament to community spirit and the vision of local dairy farmer Stan Kuhl. In 2004, Kuhl donated 4.7 hectares of his land to create a botanic park promoting global peace. Sadly, he passed away in 2005, but his dream was realized when the park officially opened in 2006 and expanded to 5.4 hectares in 2012. The park features over 400 species of native plants and trees, showcasing the diverse flora of the region. Wheelchair-accessible pathways meander through themed gardens, wetlands, and rainforest areas, offering panoramic views of the Bunya Mountains. The park's design incorporates artistic mosaic tiles symbolizing the natural environment. Visitors can enjoy a range of facilities, including a nature-inspired adventure playground where children can excavate a dinosaur skeleton, climb a giant Crows Ash seed pod, and play. A picturesque lake with a viewing platform provides a tranquil setting, while picnic shelters and BBQ facilities cater to family gatherings. The grand rotunda is a popular spot for weddings and offers stunning views to the west. The Friends of Peacehaven Botanic Park operate a native plant nursery within the park, offering rare native plants for sale. Proceeds from the nursery support park enhancements. The park also features a frog pond, providing a habitat for local frog populations and other fauna. Peacehaven Botanic Park stands as a living legacy to Stan Kuhl's generosity and his desire to create a place of peace and natural beauty for the community.
