From Port Douglas, head to the closest bus stop located on Macrossan Street. Look for the 'Sunbus' services that run towards Cairns. Board the bus heading south towards Wangetti. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach the Rex Lookout stop. Once you disembark, follow the short pathway that leads up to the lookout point.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local bike rental shops in Port Douglas, such as the Port Douglas Bike Hire. From there, head south on Macrossan Street until you reach Captain Cook Highway (also known as the highway). Turn left onto Captain Cook Highway and pedal south for about 10 kilometers. The Rex Lookout will be on your left side. There is a designated bike path for most of the route.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk to Rex Lookout. Start at the Port Douglas Visitor Information Centre and walk down Macrossan Street. Continue straight until you reach Captain Cook Highway. Turn left and walk along the highway towards Wangetti. It's about a 10-kilometer walk, so be prepared for a long trek. Ensure you have plenty of water and sun protection, as there are limited shaded areas along the way. The Rex Lookout will be on your left.
