Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Victor Harbor. Head north on Port Elliot Road (B57) towards Port Elliot. After about 10 minutes, you will reach the intersection with Goolwa Road (B57). Continue straight onto Goolwa Road and follow the signs to Goolwa. After approximately 20 minutes, you will arrive in Goolwa. Once in Goolwa, follow the signs to the Goolwa Barrage. Turn onto Beacon 19 Boat Ramp Road where you will find parking available near the Barrage.

  • Public Transport

    For those using public transport, you can take the South Coast Line train from Adelaide to Goolwa. The journey takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. Once you arrive at Goolwa station, you can catch a local bus (Bus 785) which runs to the Goolwa Barrage. The bus ride takes about 10 minutes. Make sure to check the local bus schedule for the most accurate timings. The bus fare is approximately AUD 5 per adult.

  • Bike

    If you prefer to bike, the route from Victor Harbor to Goolwa is quite scenic. Start from Victor Harbor and follow the Encounter Bikeway. This dedicated bike path will take you along the coast and through beautiful landscapes. It takes about 30 minutes to bike to Goolwa. Once you reach Goolwa, follow the local roads towards Beacon 19 Boat Ramp Road to reach the Barrage.

  • Walking

    For the adventurous, walking from Goolwa town to the Barrage is an option. It is approximately a 5 km walk which will take about 1 hour. Head south on Goolwa Road until you reach Beacon 19 Boat Ramp Road. The walk is scenic and gives you a chance to enjoy the surrounding nature.
