The Mount Ohlssen-Bagge Hike, located within Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, offers a rewarding climb to stunning vistas. The 6.8km return trail, graded as a moderately difficult hike, ascends through rocky terrain to the summit of Mount Ohlssen-Bagge. Starting near the Wilpena Visitor Centre, the trail initially follows the main path towards Pound Gap before branching off to begin its ascent. While not as demanding as Saint Mary's Peak, the climb is strenuous due to the elevation gain and rocky sections. The final section to the summit involves a gradual incline along a rocky ridge. From the summit, hikers are treated to 360-degree views, including Wilpena Pound, Attunga Bluff, and Mount Boorong. The area is also known for its diverse reptile population, so keep an eye out for lizards basking in the sun. The Adelaide Bushwalkers club originally blazed the trail in 1959, contributing to the rich history of hiking in the Flinders Ranges. Today, the trail is well-marked with orange markers, guiding hikers along the path. Note that the trail is typically closed during the summer months of December, January, and February.
