    Getting There

    Driving

    From Wilpena Pound Resort, head north on Flinders Ranges Way for approximately 19 km. Look for the well-marked turnoff to Stokes Hill Lookout on your right, shortly before the turnoff to Skytrek Willow Springs Station. The access road is a steep, unsealed track. Drive carefully, and be aware that towing vehicles is not recommended. There is a parking area at the bottom of the hill where you can leave trailers. No parking fees apply.

    Stokes Hill Lookout, near Willow Springs in South Australia, provides breathtaking panoramic views of the Flinders Ranges. Easily accessible by car, it's a popular destination for witnessing the stunning sunrises and sunsets over the outback landscape. From the lookout, visitors can see iconic landmarks such as Wilpena Pound, the Bunkers Range, and the Druid Range. The lookout was opened in March 1992 to honor the history of the Adnyamathanha people, whose name means 'Rock People'. Signage at the site explains the symbolism of indigenous rock art and Dreamtime stories related to the creation of Ikara (Wilpena Pound). Stokes Hill Lookout is located approximately 19 kilometers north of Wilpena Pound Resort. While the road to the summit is a steep dirt track, it is generally accessible to 2WD vehicles with care, though towing is not advised. At the summit, visitors will find benches, tables, and a 3D model depicting the surrounding topography. It's the perfect place to take a bottle of wine and nibbles and enjoy the ever changing colours of our landscape.
