Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards the town of Buchan from your current location in Gippsland. The most common route is via the Princes Highway (A1). From the highway, take the exit onto the B400 towards Buchan. Continue along the B400 until you reach the Caves Road. Turn right onto Caves Road and follow the signs to the Buchan Caves Reserve. The Fairy Cave entrance is located within the reserve. Ensure you have a map or GPS for precise navigation.
Public Transportation
To reach Fairy Cave using public transportation, start by taking a train or bus to Bairnsdale, the nearest major town to Buchan. From Bairnsdale, you can catch a V/Line bus to Buchan. Ensure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may be limited. Once you arrive in Buchan, you will need to taxi or walk approximately 3 km to reach the Buchan Caves Reserve, where the Fairy Cave is located. It is advisable to arrange for a taxi in advance or check local transport options.
Walking
If you are already in Buchan and prefer to walk, you can head to the Buchan Caves Reserve on foot. The walk from the town center to the reserve is approximately 3 km and will take around 35-45 minutes. Follow the signs directing you to Caves Road, ensuring you stay on the designated paths for safety. This is a scenic walk where you can enjoy the natural surroundings.
