Car
If you are driving, head towards Thomson Dam located at Thomson VIC 3825. From Melbourne, take the M1 highway towards Traralgon. Exit onto the Princes Highway (A1) and follow the signs to Traralgon. Once in Traralgon, take the exit onto the Lavers Hill Road (B460) towards Tyers. Continue on this road until you reach Thomson Dam Road, where you will follow the signs leading to the dam. The dam entrance will be on your right, and you can park in the designated parking area.
Public Transportation
To reach Thomson Dam using public transport, you can take a V/Line train from Melbourne to Traralgon. Once you arrive at Traralgon station, you will need to catch a bus to Thomson. However, please check the local bus schedule ahead of time, as services may be limited. Upon arriving in Thomson, it is recommended to use a taxi or rideshare service to reach Thomson Dam, as it is roughly 15 km from the town center.
Walking
If you are already in the Thomson Dam area and prefer to walk, ensure you have a map or GPS app available, as some areas may have limited signal. From Thomson township, you can walk along Thomson Dam Road towards the dam. It is approximately a 3 km walk, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. The scenery along the way is quite beautiful, so enjoy the views!
