Signal Peak: Grampians Summit with Panoramic Views

Signal Peak, rising to approximately 780 meters, is situated at the southern end of the Serra Range within the Grampians National Park (Gariwerd). The peak is known for its panoramic views, encompassing the vast landscapes of the Southern Grampians and Dunkeld. The hike to Signal Peak typically begins from the Mount Abrupt carpark. The trail ascends through low forests, traversing areas affected by past landslides. As hikers progress, the path winds beneath a rocky escarpment and through a saddle marked by tall trees before reaching the drier western slopes leading to the summit. The final ascent involves navigating rocky steps and boulder fields. From the summit, the views extend across the Serra Range to the north and towards Dunkeld in the south. The area holds cultural significance for the Djab Wurrung and Jardwadjali people, who have inhabited the region for over 22,000 years.
