As a joint venture between the University of Southern Queensland and the Queensland Government, the college strives to provide quality training and learning experiences based in a true commercial operation. Opened in 2007, the $8.5 million state-of-the-art facility is located on the campus of Stanthorpe State High School. Visitors can explore the Banca Ridge Winery and enjoy wine tastings at the cellar door, providing a wonderful introduction to the region's wines. The college's Varias Restaurant is renowned for showcasing local food and wines, prepared and served by talented students. The restaurant has won multiple awards for its outstanding cuisine and service. The college also offers guided tours that delve into the winemaking process, allowing visitors to appreciate the craft behind each bottle. For those looking to enhance their culinary skills, hands-on workshops and classes are available. The Queensland College of Wine Tourism also serves as a conference and function center, hosting various events throughout the year. In February/March, the popular Winemaker for a Weekend program coincides with grape harvest at the College. The college is also a research center for the University of Southern Queensland Faculty of Sciences and operates a commercial grape and wine analysis service.
