Discover more about Eagle Rock

Eagle Rock, also known as Curracurrong Falls, is a prominent landmark within Royal National Park, the world's second-oldest national park. This unique rock formation, sculpted by weathering and erosion, strikingly resembles an eagle's head when viewed from a specific angle, particularly from the south. From the north, the rock appears rectangular, adding to its perplexing nature. The surrounding Royal National Park, established in 1879, holds significant cultural and natural heritage. The Dharawal people, the traditional custodians of this land, have a deep connection to the area. The park itself is a sanctuary of beaches, rainforest, and Aboriginal sites. Visitors can access Eagle Rock via several walking trails, most commonly from Wattamolla or Garie Beach. The coastal walk offers stunning ocean views and opportunities for whale watching during migration season (May-November). The hike from Garie Beach is approximately 4.3km.
