    Discover more about Kiama Lighthouse

The Kiama Lighthouse, a prominent landmark on the New South Wales South Coast, has stood watch over the coastline since 1887. Located on Blowhole Point, near the Kiama Blowhole, the lighthouse offers visitors a combination of natural beauty and historical significance. Built following local commercial pressure and the opening of Kiama Harbour, the lighthouse was designed by Edward Orpen Moriarty. Originally equipped with an oil burner and a fixed green light, it has since been upgraded to a modern electric lamp. The light characteristic is Fl (4) W 20s, meaning it flashes white four times every 20 seconds. While the tower itself is not open to the public, the surrounding Blowhole Point Reserve provides ample space for exploration and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy picnic areas, BBQ facilities, and walking tracks with stunning ocean views. The nearby Pilot's Cottage Museum, housed in the former assistant keeper's residence, offers insights into the area's maritime past. Kiama Lighthouse is more than just a navigational aid; it's a symbol of the region's history and a testament to the enduring power of the sea.
