Constructed in 1934 by the OT Cordial Company (later known as Kia Ora Cordials), the dam was originally built to supply water for the company's crops. Local workers used horse-drawn scoops to build the dam's wall. The company produced a cordial called OT, flavored with chilies. Due to manpower shortages during the war, the business closed in the early 1940s. The OT Dam Circuit Walk is a 3km loop that takes approximately 2 hours to complete. The trail winds through a deep gully surrounded by native eucalyptus forests. The well-maintained track includes some hills and a boardwalk that encircles the dam. The walk is considered moderately difficult. Visitors can access the OT Dam from Arthurs Seat Road near Main Creek Road.
