Car
If you are driving, make your way to the Kosciuszko National Park entrance. Head towards Crackenback on the Alpine Way (B72). Follow the signs for Crackenback and continue for approximately 10.5 km. Look for the Rainbow Lake Walking Track car park on your right just before you reach the Thredbo River. There is no entry fee to the park, but remember to check for any seasonal road conditions.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, catch a coach to the Thredbo area from Jindabyne. Upon arrival in Thredbo, you can take a taxi or arrange a shuttle service to reach the Rainbow Lake Walking Track car park. Make sure to confirm the fare and availability of services in advance as they may vary.
Walking
Once you arrive at the Rainbow Lake Walking Track car park, you can start your walk. The track is well marked and begins right at the car park. The walk to Rainbow Lake is approximately 4.5 km one way and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to bring water, snacks, and wear suitable walking shoes.
