Car
If you are driving, head towards the Wellington Park area. From Hobart, take the Southern Outlet (A6) towards Kingston. Continue on the A6 until you see the signs directing you to Mount Wellington. Follow the signs to Mount Wellington and then to the Fern Tree area. Park your car at the Fern Tree Tavern (address: 798 Huon Rd, Fern Tree TAS 7054). This is a popular starting point for accessing the Pipeline Track.
Public Transportation
You can take the Metro Tasmania bus service from Hobart to Fern Tree. The bus number 45 departs from the Hobart Bus Station and goes to Fern Tree, where you can disembark at the stop closest to the Fern Tree Tavern. The bus ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Check the Metro Tasmania website for the latest schedules and fare information, as fares may vary.
Walking
Once at the Fern Tree Tavern, you will begin your hike towards the Pipeline Track Hut. From the tavern, take the Pipeline Track entrance located just behind the tavern. Follow the well-marked trail for about 1.5 kilometers (approximately 30-40 minutes of walking). The track is moderately easy and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area. The Pipeline Track Hut is located at the end of this section, where you can rest and enjoy the scenery.
