If you're driving, head towards Yamba from any location in Northern Rivers. From Grafton, take the Gwydir Highway (A1) heading east. Continue onto the Pacific Highway (A1) and follow the signs to Yamba. Once in Yamba, follow Yamba Road until you reach the roundabout, then take the second exit onto Coldstream Street. Continue straight as Coldstream Street becomes River Street, leading you towards the coast. Look for signs directing you to Hickey Island, which is located to the south of the Yamba Golf Club. There is no entry fee to access the island.

To reach Hickey Island via public transport, first, take a bus to Yamba. Check the local bus schedules for services operating from Grafton or other nearby towns. Once you arrive at the Yamba bus stop, walk towards Coldstream Street. Follow the aforementioned directions to continue towards Hickey Island.
