Getting There

    From the center of Nimbin, the Nimbin Rocks are approximately a 3-kilometer walk. Head south on Nimbin Road. The walk takes around 40 minutes. There is a viewing area to observe the rocks. There are no entrance fees.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Nimbin from Lismore, you can take bus 630 or 650. From the bus stop in Nimbin, the rocks are a short walk south of town. A $2.50 RED ticket is available to eligible pensioners. Full fares can be checked on the Moovit app.

  • Taxi

    Taxis or rideshares can be used to reach the Nimbin Rocks from Nimbin. From the center of Nimbin, the ride is short and should cost approximately $15-$25.

The traditional owners believe the rocks were home to the Nmbngee, or Clever Men, and served as initiation grounds for young boys. The area around Nimbin Rocks is known as a sacred site of initiation and men's business. While direct access to the rocks is restricted to protect their sacred status, a designated viewing area provides visitors the opportunity to appreciate these natural landmarks and soak in the surrounding serene views.Nimbin itself is known for its counterculture heritage and alternative lifestyles. The town gained fame in the 1970s and continues to attract visitors with its unique bohemian atmosphere.
