Car
If you are driving from Lismore, take the Pacific Highway (A1) heading north. Continue on the A1 for approximately 35 km until you reach the turnoff for Yamba (B73). Follow B73 into Yamba. Once in Yamba, follow local signs directing you towards the coast and the Yamba Marina. From the marina, you will need to drive to the nearest public access point to Pelican Island, which is located at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. Park your car in the designated area and prepare for a short boat trip to Pelican Island.
Public Transportation
To reach Pelican Island using public transport, start by taking a bus from Lismore to Yamba. Check the local bus schedule for the latest routes and times. Once you arrive in Yamba, you may need to walk to the Yamba Marina, which is approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the town center. From the marina, you will need to arrange for a water taxi or a guided boat tour that includes Pelican Island as a destination. Costs for the water taxi may vary, so be prepared for this additional expense.
Boat
If you are already in Yamba and have access to a boat or kayak, you can reach Pelican Island directly by water. Pelican Island is located just offshore from Yamba, approximately 1 km away. Make sure to check the local marine conditions before setting out, and be aware of any required permits for landing on the island.
