Car
If you're traveling by car, the most common route to Nitmiluk National Park is via the Stuart Highway (National Route 87). If you're starting from Alice Springs, head north on the Stuart Highway for approximately 450 kilometers (around 5 hours). When you reach the junction with the Arnhem Highway, take the right turn onto the Arnhem Highway. After about 80 kilometers, turn left onto Gorge Road, which leads directly into the park. Be aware of wildlife on the roads, especially at dawn and dusk.
Public Transport
For those relying on public transportation, you can take a bus from Darwin to Katherine, which is the nearest town to the park. Bus services like Greyhound offer this route. The journey takes about 3-4 hours. Once you arrive in Katherine, you will need to arrange for a taxi or a shuttle service to take you the remaining 30 kilometers to Nitmiluk National Park. It is advisable to book the shuttle in advance as services may be limited.
