Car
From Brisbane, take the M1 motorway heading north. After approximately 1.5 hours, take the exit towards Mackay. Continue on the Bruce Highway (A1) for around 700 km until you reach the signs for Cape Hillsborough. Turn onto Cape Hillsborough Road and follow the signs to Cape Hillsborough National Park. The Diversity Boardwalk is located within the park area, and there is a small parking area available. Note that there may be a parking fee.
Public Transportation
Begin your journey by taking a train from Brisbane to Mackay. The Queensland Rail service operates regular trains, and the journey takes about 12 hours. Once you arrive in Mackay, you can catch a local bus or taxi to Cape Hillsborough. If taking a taxi, be aware that it is about a 30-minute drive (approximately 40 km) to the park. The bus service may have limited schedules, so check local transport options ahead of time.
Taxi or Rideshare
If you are in Mackay, you can opt for a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber) to reach Diversity Boardwalk. Simply request a ride to 'Cape Hillsborough National Park' and confirm with the driver that you want to go to the boardwalk area. The trip will take around 30 minutes from Mackay, and fares may vary, so it’s good to check the app for estimates.
