Car
If you are driving from Sydney, take the M4 Motorway towards the Blue Mountains. Continue on the M4 until it merges with the Great Western Highway (A32). Follow the Great Western Highway for approximately 100 km. Take the exit towards Katoomba and continue along the Scenic Road for about 5 km. Turn left onto Glenraphael Drive, and you will find the entrance to the Blue Mountains National Park. There is a parking area available, but note that there may be a parking fee, which varies depending on the length of your stay.
Public Transportation
To reach Golden Stairs via public transport, take a train from Sydney's Central Station to Katoomba Station. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and trains run regularly throughout the day. Once you arrive at Katoomba Station, exit the station and catch the 'Blue Mountains Explorer Bus' (route 2) towards Scenic World. Alight at the stop for Scenic World. From there, it is a short walk to the entrance of the Blue Mountains National Park on Glenraphael Drive. Be prepared for a short hike to reach the Golden Stairs from the park entrance. A one-way train ticket costs around AUD 10-15, and the bus fare is approximately AUD 10.
Hiking
Once you have entered the Blue Mountains National Park, follow the signs leading to the Golden Stairs. The hike is approximately 1.5 km from the park entrance and involves a steep descent down a series of steps. Ensure you wear appropriate footwear and carry water. The hike may take around 30-45 minutes depending on your pace. Please note that it can be strenuous, so be prepared for a workout!
