Hyde Park Obelisk: A Tribute to History in Sydney's Heart

Getting There

• Public Transport - Train

  If you are starting from Circular Quay, take the T2, T3, T4, T8, or Airport Line train from Circular Quay Station towards the City Circle. Disembark at Town Hall Station. Once you exit the station, walk towards the Queen Victoria Building and head down George Street. Turn right onto Park Street, and continue straight until you reach Hyde Park. The Obelisk is located on the eastern side of Hyde Park, near the intersection of Elizabeth Street.

• Public Transport - Bus

  From any location in the Sydney CBD, look for a bus stop that services routes heading towards Elizabeth Street. Take a bus that stops at Elizabeth Street, either heading north or south. Disembark at the stop closest to Hyde Park. Walk towards the park entrance, and the Obelisk is situated within Hyde Park, prominently located on the eastern side near the gardens.

• Walking

  If you are near the Sydney Tower or Westfield Sydney, you can simply walk to Hyde Park. Head south on Pitt Street until you reach Park Street. Turn left on Park Street and walk east towards Hyde Park. Once you arrive, you can find the Obelisk on the eastern side of the park, surrounded by beautiful gardens and pathways.

• Light Rail

  From the Sydney Light Rail network, board the light rail at any station heading towards Central Station. Get off at the 'Haymarket' stop. From there, walk to the southern end of the park by heading east along Quay Street, then turn left onto Elizabeth Street. Continue straight until you enter Hyde Park, where the Obelisk is located on the eastern side.
