Car
To reach Ginty's Lookout by car, start in Alice Springs, which is the nearest major town. From Alice Springs, take the Larapinta Drive heading west for about 10 kilometers until you reach the junction with Namatjira Drive. Turn left onto Namatjira Drive and continue for approximately 60 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Mereenie Loop Road. Turn right onto the Mereenie Loop Road (Note: a permit is required to drive this road, which can be obtained from local visitor centers or online). Continue on the Mereenie Loop Road for about 80 kilometers until you see signs for Ginty's Lookout. Follow the signs to the lookout point, where you will find stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Public Transportation
While direct public transportation options to Ginty's Lookout are limited, you can take a bus from Alice Springs to Kings Canyon, which is operated by several local companies. From Kings Canyon, you will need to arrange a private taxi or rideshare to Ginty's Lookout, as it is approximately 40 kilometers away. Be sure to check schedules in advance as services may vary, and consider the cost of the taxi ride which could be around AUD 100-150 depending on the provider.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, biking is another option. From Alice Springs, you can cycle along Larapinta Drive and Namatjira Drive, which will take you through scenic views. Be prepared for a strenuous ride, as this route is approximately 150 kilometers one way. Make sure to carry plenty of water, food, and a map. Note that you will still need to arrange for a way back to Alice Springs.
