Getting There

  • Car

    From Darwin, take the Stuart Highway (National Route 1) heading south. Follow the road for approximately 1,600 km until you reach the town of Katherine. From Katherine, continue on the Stuart Highway until you reach the town of Alice Springs. From Alice Springs, continue on the highway until you reach the junction for the Lasseter Highway (National Route 87). Turn left onto Lasseter Highway and follow it for approximately 200 km to the junction with the Great Northern Highway. Turn left onto the Great Northern Highway and continue for about 300 km until you reach the town of Port Campbell. The Grotto is located at The Grotto Track, Peterborough VIC 3270. Make sure to have a map or GPS handy as some parts of the journey may have limited signage.

    If you're using public transport, start by taking a bus from Darwin to Katherine. From Katherine, catch the Ghan train to Alice Springs.
