Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, first navigate to Port Fairy, Victoria, which is located approximately 290 kilometers southwest of Melbourne via the Princes Highway (M1). Once in Port Fairy, head towards the town center and follow the signs to Griffiths Island. You can park your car at the designated parking area near the entrance to Griffiths Island. The lighthouse is a short walk from the parking area, along the scenic walking paths.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a V/Line train from Southern Cross Station in Melbourne to Warrnambool. Once you arrive at Warrnambool, transfer to a local bus service, which operates routes to Port Fairy. Once in Port Fairy, you can walk or catch a taxi to Griffiths Island. The walk from the town center to Griffiths Island is about 1.5 kilometers and takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Alternatively, you can arrange for a local taxi to take you directly to the Griffiths Island entrance.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and enjoy cycling, you can bring your bike on the V/Line train to Warrnambool, and then cycle from there to Port Fairy. The journey is about 30 kilometers, following the scenic coastal roads. Once in Port Fairy, you can cycle to Griffiths Island, where there are bike racks available for parking.

• Walking

  If you're already in Port Fairy, walking to Griffiths Island is a beautiful option. Start from the town center, and head southwest towards the coastline. Follow the walking paths that lead to Griffiths Island. The walk offers stunning views of the ocean and is roughly 1.5 kilometers, taking about 20-30 minutes. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
