If you're driving, the NSW Rail Museum is located at 10 Barbour Rd, Thirlmere. From Sydney, take the M5 Motorway towards Campbelltown. Merge onto the Hume Highway (M31) towards Goulburn. Take the exit for the Camden Bypass (B78) and follow the signs for Camden. Continue on the Camden Bypass until you reach the intersection with Argyle St. Turn right onto Argyle St (B83) and follow it until it becomes Elderslie Rd. Continue straight onto Thirlmere Way. Turn right onto Barbour Rd and the museum will be on your left. Parking is available on-site.

To reach the NSW Rail Museum via public transport, take a train from Sydney's Central Station to Campbelltown Station. Trains to Campbelltown run frequently. Upon arriving at Campbelltown Station, transfer to bus 870 towards Thirlmere. The bus will take you directly to Thirlmere, where you can get off at the stop nearest to Barbour Rd.
