Getting There

• Car

  From central Portland, head southwest on B1 (Princes Highway) for approximately 5 kilometers. Turn left onto Henty Highway (C216) and continue for about 10 kilometers. After that, take a right onto Macarthur-Portland Road, which will lead you toward the Volcanic Isle lookout. Follow the signs for approximately 2 kilometers until you reach the lookout parking area. Parking is available on-site, and there are no fees for parking.

• Public Transportation

  If you are taking public transport, start by catching a bus from the Portland Bus Terminal to Portland West. Check the local bus schedule for the latest timings. Once you arrive in Portland West, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service to the Volcanic Isle lookout, as public transportation does not go directly to the lookout. The taxi ride will take around 15 minutes and cost approximately AUD 20-30.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous, you can also reach Volcanic Isle lookout by bicycle. Starting from central Portland, follow the same route as the car instructions. The distance is about 17 kilometers one-way, so make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. The ride is mostly flat, but take care on the roads as there may be traffic.

• Walking

  For those who are very adventurous and fit, walking from Portland to Volcanic Isle lookout is an option. However, be prepared for a long walk of approximately 17 kilometers. Start from central Portland and follow the same route as the car instructions. Allow yourself a good amount of time, as this can take several hours. Ensure you're wearing comfortable walking shoes and have enough food and water for the journey.
