Getting There

Walking
From the center of Hallstatt, head towards the Hallstatt train station. Once you reach the station, exit the station area and take the path that leads to the main road, Salzburger Straße. Continue walking along Salzburger Straße for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass beautiful views of the lake on your left. Keep walking until you reach the intersection with Bergwerkstraße. Turn left onto Bergwerkstraße and walk for about 200 meters. The entrance to the Salt Mine Berchtesgaden will be on your right at Parkplatz Salzburger Straße 24.

Public Transport
Start at the Hallstatt train station. Take a train to the nearest major station, which is Bad Ischl. From Bad Ischl, transfer to a train heading towards Berchtesgaden. Once you arrive at Berchtesgaden train station, walk towards the bus stop located right outside the station. Board the bus headed to the Salt Mine (Salzbergwerk). The bus will take you directly to the Salt Mine Berchtesgaden. The entire journey should take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on connections.

Bicycle Rental
If you're feeling adventurous, rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Hallstatt. Once you have your bike, follow the cycling trail along the lake towards the Salzburger Straße. Continue on the road for about 1.5 kilometers. When you reach the intersection with Bergwerkstraße, turn left and ride for another 200 meters. You will find the Salt Mine Berchtesgaden on your right. Make sure to follow the cycling paths and be cautious of the traffic.
