Car
If you are driving, start from the center of Kals am Großglockner. Head east on L7 towards Kals, following the signs for Großglockner. After approximately 5 kilometers, you will reach a parking area near the starting point of the hiking trail to Kesselkeessee. Note that parking may incur a fee of around €5 for the day.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from the nearest train station, which is in Matrei in Osttirol. Board the bus heading towards Kals am Großglockner. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the bus stop in Kals, walk towards the hiking trailhead, which is clearly marked. Be prepared for a hike of about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Kesselkeessee.
Hiking
After parking your car or arriving at the bus stop, you will need to hike to Kesselkeessee. The hiking trail is well-marked and begins at the parking area. Follow the signs for Kesselkeessee. The trail is moderately challenging, with some elevation gain, so make sure to wear appropriate hiking footwear and bring water. The hike typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace.
