Getting there

Car

If you're traveling by car from Innsbruck, take the A12 motorway heading east. Take exit 19-Innsbruck-Ost toward B171. Continue on the B171 for about 10 km, following signs for Thaur. Once you reach Thaur, look for signs directing you to the Kaisersäule. There is a small parking area near the trailhead, but be aware that it may charge a fee of approximately €3 for parking.

Public Transportation

To reach Kaisersäule via public transportation, start by taking a train from Innsbruck to Thaur. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Thaur station, exit and take bus line 4132 towards 'Thaur, Kirche'. Get off at the 'Thaur, Kirche' stop. From there, follow the hiking trail signs pointing towards Kaisersäule, which is approximately a 45-minute walk uphill. Note that bus tickets typically cost around €2.50.

Hiking

If you are already in the surrounding hiking areas of Karwendel, look for trails leading towards Kaisersäule. The most common route is via the 'Kaisersäule Circular Trail' which starts at the Thaur village center. Follow the marked paths, and be prepared for a moderately challenging hike, taking 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the summit of Kaisersäule. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and bring water and snacks.
