Stadthauptpfarrkirche St. Jakob: A Spiritual Gem of Villach

Getting There

• Public Transport

  If you're starting from Klagenfurt, take the bus number 51 or 52 from the Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof (main train station). The bus will take you directly to Villach. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Villach Bahnhof (train station), exit the bus and walk towards the city center. Follow the signs to the 'Stadtzentrum' (city center), which is about a 10-minute walk. As you walk, you will pass several shops and cafés. Continue onto the Hauptplatz (main square), and from there, head towards Kirchenplatz. The Stadthauptpfarrkirche St. Jakob is located right at Kirchenpl. 9.

  If you're already in Villach, start at the Villach Bahnhof (train station). Exit the station and head northeast towards Bahnhofstraße. Continue straight until you reach the main square (Hauptplatz). From there, take a left onto Rathausplatz, and then follow the signs towards Kirchenplatz. The Stadthauptpfarrkirche St. Jakob will be on your right at Kirchenpl. 9. The entire walk should take about 15-20 minutes.

  For a more convenient option, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Villach. Simply tell the driver you want to go to 'Stadthauptpfarrkirche St. Jakob' at Kirchenpl. 9. Taxis are readily available near the Villach Bahnhof and can also be booked via phone or through ride-hailing apps. The taxi ride should take around 5-10 minutes depending on traffic.
