Car
If you're driving from Vienna, take the A1 motorway towards Linz. Exit at 'Melk' (exit 89) and follow the B3 road into the town. Once in Melk, follow the signs for 'Stift Melk' (Melk Abbey). There is a parking area available near the Abbey, but note that parking fees may apply.
Train
To reach Melk Abbey by train, take a regional train from Vienna's Hauptbahnhof (main station) towards St. Pölten. Change at St. Pölten for a train to Melk. The entire journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Melk train station, it's a 15-minute walk to the Abbey. Simply follow the signs to 'Stift Melk' which will guide you uphill towards the Abbey.
Bus
There are also bus services that connect various towns in Lower Austria to Melk. Check the local bus schedules for routes and times. Once you arrive in Melk, follow the pedestrian signs that lead you to Melk Abbey, which is conveniently located in the town center.
Walking
If you're already in Melk, walking to the Abbey is a pleasant option. The Abbey is situated on a hill overlooking the Danube River. Follow the signs from the town center, and expect a 10-15 minute uphill walk to the entrance. The path is well-marked and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.
