If you're driving from Vienna, take the A1 motorway towards Linz. Exit at 'Melk' (exit 89) and follow the B3 road into the town. Once in Melk, follow the signs for 'Stift Melk' (Melk Abbey). There is a parking area available near the Abbey, but note that parking fees may apply.

To reach Melk Abbey by train, take a regional train from Vienna's Hauptbahnhof (main station) towards St. Pölten. Change at St. Pölten for a train to Melk. The entire journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Melk train station, it's a 15-minute walk to the Abbey. Simply follow the signs to 'Stift Melk' which will guide you uphill towards the Abbey.
