Public Bus
From Salzburg, take the bus number 840 from the Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station) towards Berchtesgaden. The journey takes about 40 minutes. Get off at the 'Berchtesgaden, Schlossplatz' stop, which is right in front of Schloss Berchtesgaden. The castle is located at Schloßpl. 2, 83471 Berchtesgaden. You can easily see the entrance from the bus stop.
Train and Bus
Take a regional train from Salzburg Hauptbahnhof to Berchtesgaden. You can catch the train heading towards Berchtesgaden from platform 1 or 2. The train ride takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Berchtesgaden train station, exit the station and walk to the bus stop just outside. Board the bus number 841 heading towards 'Berchtesgaden, Schlossplatz.' It is only a few stops, and you'll arrive directly in front of the castle.
Walking (if in Berchtesgaden)
If you are already in Berchtesgaden, you can walk to Schloss Berchtesgaden from the town center. Head towards the direction of the Berchtesgaden train station and follow the signs for Schloss Berchtesgaden. It's a 15-20 minute walk uphill, so wear comfortable shoes. The picturesque surroundings will make the walk enjoyable!
