Walking
From Salzburg's Old Town, walk towards the Mönchsberg. Follow signs for the Mönchsberg lift (MönchsbergAufzug) located on Anton-Neumayr-Platz. Alternatively, ascend via the winding footpaths from the city center, such as the steps near Toscaninihof Square behind the Festival Hall. The walk takes approximately 20-30 minutes uphill. Once on Mönchsberg, follow the signs towards Richterhöhe, which is located at the southernmost point of the mountain. Note that the paths can be steep in sections. No cost.
Public Transport
Take bus lines 1, 8, 10, 22, 23, or 27 to the MönchsbergAufzug station. From the bus stop, the entrance to the Mönchsberg lift is a short walk. A single ride ticket for public transport in Salzburg's core zone costs approximately €2.40. From the top of the Mönchsberg lift, follow the signs to Richterhöhe, a 10-15 minute walk. Alternatively, from Salzburg's main train station (Salzburg Hauptbahnhof), take bus line 3 towards 'Pferdeschwemme'. Get off at the 'Mönchsberg' stop. From there, follow the signs towards the Mönchsberg hiking trail. The trail leads you directly to the observation deck at Richterhöhe. The walk will take approximately 15-20 minutes.
Mönchsberg Lift
The Mönchsberg lift (MönchsbergAufzug) provides direct access to Mönchsberg from Anton-Neumayr-Platz in the Old Town. An ascent or descent ticket costs €3.20 for adults and €1.40 for children (6-14 years). The lift ride takes only 30 seconds. From the upper station, follow the signs to Richterhöhe, approximately a 10-15 minute walk. The Salzburg Card provides one-time free admission and quick access to the lift.
Taxi/Ride-Share
A taxi or ride-share from Salzburg's city center to the base of the Mönchsberg lift (Anton-Neumayr-Platz) will cost approximately €10-€15, depending on traffic. From there, take the Mönchsberg lift or walk up to Richterhöhe.
